Description

Two teenagers disappear. One clue is left behind: a phone case with a yellow bear. On the walls, words are written by a desperate Persephone looking for a way to escape. Who is the person behind the yellow bear? Light and darkness on the same coin, with a different side – the light whispers "life" to you at the same time that darkness laughs, holding your hand. And you try to get away, but something keeps you here. It is the light. A book that balances between life and death. A fairy tale that searches for words to be written as painfully as possible. And when it succeeds, the light is born.

"Markos, we are continuing in vain. You better prepare your things. You understand that I would never leave you here alone." Markos nervously grabs the clothes his aunt has already taken off him since the morning. Among them are plain t-shirts, jeans, a new short-sleeved shirt he bought himself from a well-known store on Tsimiski Street, and scarves. Many scarves for the neck. He has been wearing them since a very young age. His mother taught him these. It was her habit. She was. Three combinations he never parted with: white-blue, white-red, white-black. All these clothes must be arranged in a specific way so they don't get wrinkled. Especially the scarves. He will no longer have his aunt running after him. It is time to wean. "Since mom died, you have forgotten how to speak, to have a conversation..." Elias's reversed hand rises, ready to land on his son's cheek. It comes down at the same moment. He is not that kind of father. Nor that kind of person. That feeling that arises inside him every time the conversation turns to Elena causes it. He loses his composure.

  • I was optimistic about what I would read from Stefanos, since I was already captivated by his previous psychological thriller, The Wail. This book was even better. It kept you hooked until the last page. There were twists, suspense, and the killer kept changing in your mind until the very last page. You couldn't predict anything. Stefanos' words are simple yet rich at the same time, showing how wonderfully and skillfully he uses words both as an educator and as a writer!! What I appreciated is how beautifully he included the story of Persephone in the book! And also how he managed to incorporate The Wail again in this one, as well as the winged sandals! The most shocking thing is the way the killer is revealed! Keeping you 'on hot coals.' Until his arrest, he filled you with adrenaline and suspense, as if you were watching an action movie! Stefanos never disappoints me and I dare say that I will only read psychological thrillers if they are his!

The author gets better and better with each book. I don't know what captivated me the most, but the message that Stefanos Alexiadis is trying to convey is loud and clear. We need to give proper attention to our children; let this indifference finally stop. Many congratulations!!

I love books that have speed, intensity, and a message at the end. I don't know how the author always does it, but he manages to marry crime with social issues. I highly recommend it!!
