Description

Travel with this explosive return to the universe of the "Shatter Me" series, the #1 global bestseller, with the first book of a new series.

James Anderson may be in a prison cell, but for him, a victory is always a victory. The only thing that matters is that he achieved what his older brother, the famous Aaron Warner Anderson, never dared to attempt: to infiltrate the Ark Island, the last stronghold of the old tyrannical regime.

It has been ten years since the notorious duo Juliet Ferrars and Aaron Warner Anderson led a global uprising and established the Reborn Republic. But now, the remnants of the old regime are preparing to make their most destructive move, and they have found the ideal person for the job.
Rosabel Wolfe always acts with a plan, and when ordered to kill, she never hesitates. But on Ark Island, where her every move is monitored by artificial intelligence, even emotions must be experienced with caution.

The transformation of hate into love seems more impossible than ever.
And the question remains: Who are we when no one is watching?

I OPEN THE CUPBOARD, the shelves are empty. Of course, this doesn’t surprise me. The shelves have been empty for weeks. But for Clara’s sake, I put on a little show by opening it every morning, pretending that I might find something other than the same ever-speedy cockroach that lives inside. I close the cupboard door and then turn to face Clara. She never gets out of bed on her own. Whenever she needs to move, I carry her in my arms. Today, sitting up on the mattress, she looks out the frosty window – in the dazzling morning light, her light-colored eyes look completely faded. Her hand trembles as she pulls back the tattered curtain a little, and a blue gleam briefly lights up the glass. “We’re out of bread,” I say. “I’ll go out.” Some days Clara lets me leave without asking anything. Other days she asks how I pay for the food I bring home. Today she says: “At night I dreamed of Mom.” My face remains expressionless. “Again?”

10 years after the Reborn Republic and the remnants of the old regime are preparing to strike again. James Anderson invades the last stronghold of the enemies while Rosabelle Wolff does not hesitate to follow orders and... eliminate him!
But what happens when no one is watching them?

The Shatter Me series returns with a spin-off series featuring the younger Anderson brother. James returns to the scene of the crime to bring us back into the world we loved.

We're talking about a protagonist who is a mix of Aaron and Kenji, and of course, his lines are chef’s kiss while his chemistry with Rosabelle, who is the female version of Aaron, is utterly delightful. Naturally, our favorite characters, Aaron, Kenji, Juliette, etc., are present, carrying half the book on their shoulders.
    T. Mafi's writing once again knows how to convey the thoughts and psyche of each of her characters, while her descriptive ability is so unique that you can't help but love it.

All that said, I found some parts of the book repetitive and verbose, and I won't lie, I expected more....
Will I continue with the next ones?
Of course, I will continue because I remember that the first book of Shatter Me didn't excite me, but the next ones were masterpieces.

The book is also suitable for younger ages.
I recommend it to those who read Shatter Me and miss that world and to those whose favorite genre was dystopian movies.

    WARNING
For better understanding of the book and to avoid spoilers, read the Shatter Me series first.
