This volume is the first comprehensive edition of the poetry of Kostas Varnalis, from the early works Pythmenes (1904) and Kerithres (1905) to the posthumous edition People's Anger (1975). It includes six poetry collections that have been published independently and an anthology of poems, which Varnalis himself compiled for the volume Poetic Works in 1956.

The present edition makes the poet's long creative journey throughout the 20th century clear and accessible. Specifically, it allows the reading public to closely follow the transformations of Varnalis's poetry over time, as it combines the collections Pythmenes and Kerithres (editorial supervision by Kostas Kassinis), Pilgrim (editorial supervision by G. P. Savvidis), The Light That Burns and Captives Under Siege (editorial supervision by Giannis Dallis), "Free World," People's Anger (editorial supervision by G. P. Savvidis), and the poet's anthology, which is titled here Scattered Poems.
