Dry food from Royal Canin, suitable for adults and all sizes of dogs. It is designed to support urinary system health and prevent the formation of urinary stones.

Details

It is a complete dietary food formulated to reduce the formation of uric acid and cystine stones thanks to its low levels of protein and purines, high-quality protein, moderate levels of sulfur amino acids, and urine alkalizing properties.

Ingredients

Rice, cornmeal, wheat flour, egg powder, animal fats, wheat gluten*, mineral salts, corn gluten, vegetable fibers, fish oil, soybean oil, fructooligosaccharides, borage oil, marigold extract (source of lutein).

*L.I.P.: protein selected for its very high assimilation.

Nutritional Therapy

Uric control

The duration of the dietary regimen depends on the cause of the condition. For uric acid stones, treatment should be administered for at least 6 months. In the case of irreversible metabolic disorders of uric acid, this diet may be given for the pet's entire life. For cystine stones, Urinary U/C Low Purine can be administered for 1 year as initial stage therapy. Clinical re-evaluation is necessary before continuing the dietary regimen. 

The low levels of purines (e.g., wheat gluten and egg) combined with the production of alkaline urine lead to a reduced risk of developing uric acid stones.

Cystine Control

The combination of a moderate amount of high-quality protein and low sodium levels helps reduce the formation of cystine stones.

Epidermal barrier

The high levels of biotin, niacin, and pantothenic acid combined with the zinc-linoleic acid complex reduce transdermal water loss and improve the skin's barrier function.

Antioxidant complex

The synergistic antioxidant complex (vit. E, vit. C, taurine, and lutein) helps maintain DNA health, promotes immune system health, and neutralizes free radicals, whose negative consequences increase with age.
