Description

Description

The G.Skill SODIMM DDR3 RAM is aimed at demanding computer users, such as gamers, professionals in video and image editing, designers, and those who require high performance from their laptop.

DDR3

DDR3 is the third generation of RAM technology for computers. It replaces DDR2 and offers increased speeds and capacity.

It offers operating speeds from 800MT/s to 2133MT/s, response time (CAS Latency) from CL4 to CL19, while its capacity has increased up to 16GB per memory module.

For speed (MT/s) and capacity (GB), the larger size we choose, the better performance we will have in our system, while for response time (CL), we want the smallest size for the speed (MT/s) we have chosen.

The above characteristics should be compatible with the specifications of our motherboard.

The G.Skill SODIMM DDR3 provides a speed of 1866MT/s, with CL11 and 8GB per memory module.

Compatibility

DDR3 technology is compatible with specific motherboards and processors. Indicatively, DDR3 is compatible with Intel 3rd & 4th Gen, Pentium, and Celeron processors, as well as AMD FX and Phenom II series processors.

However, for compatibility with your motherboard, you need to ensure that your motherboard supports DDR3 technology from the manufacturer. Compatibility depends on the processor platform and the type of motherboard you are using.

Easy installation

For installation, you only need a screwdriver and your laptop's user manual. By watching a video for your specific laptop model, you will be able to upgrade your RAM without any problems and additional charges.

  • The laptop in which these memories were used is a turbo X with a 2nd generation i7. The previous memory was 8gb with 1333mhz. I can say that the difference was not noticeable at first, however, with the use of relatively demanding programs, the difference became apparent. I recommend them if you want to keep your laptop for another two years.

  • This review is about modules: 1, total capacity: 8 GB

I bought it for the barebone (mini pc) Gigabyte Brix GB-BPCE-3350C, and it worked, but it caused problems during the machine's startup, probably due to incompatibility. Specifically, while the power LED would light up, nothing would happen for a while. I would turn it off by pressing the power button for a long time. I would turn it on again and usually on the 3rd or 4th try it would start up normally. After that, it was okay. But during startups, there were incompatibility issues with this particular machine. The truth is that this specific memory is not on the lists recommended by the manufacturer, but usually, there is no problem. In this case, there was, and I eventually bought the Silicon Power 8GB DDR3 RAM with Speed 1600 Code: SP008GLSTU160N02, which is at a lower speed, but it works fine.
Edit 15/1/2026: I had it sitting unused for 2.5 years, and now that DDR4-5 memories have become more expensive, I decided to make use of it. So I bought a fanless/passive mini pc from abroad with the i7-5600U processor (109 Euro) and it works perfectly! In fact, although the processor's specs say it can handle memory up to 1600MHz, here it surprisingly utilized the full 1866MHz! DDR3 was up to 5th, rarely 6th generation processors. So one could say that I might have the fastest fanless DDR3 mini pc!
