On January 8, 1982, the Colombian sculptor Feliza Bursztyn suddenly died in a restaurant in Paris. At the time of her death, she was accompanied by her husband and four friends. One of them, the writer Gabriel García Márquez, published an article a few days later that included three seemingly simple but painfully enigmatic words: "She died of sadness."
This phrase is used as a starting point by the award-winning Juan Gabriel Vásquez to explore the unknown story of this important creator who lived her entire life with the revolutionary desire to be the master of herself.
In the book "The Names of Feliza," Vásquez masterfully combines biography, reality, and fiction, composing a heartrending narrative about the way personal life is inevitably crushed by the forces of politics and History.
