Young David Bendiger, an aspiring writer, arrives in 1920s Warsaw seeking a publisher for his essay and meaning in his life. He becomes involved in a white marriage and wavers between politics, love, and philosophy. Waiting for his essay to be published, he ultimately remains suspended, rejecting time and reality.
