The philosophy of science, as it has developed over the last hundred years, has focused on highlighting, studying, and understanding the structure of the conceptual organization of the content of science.
Within this framework, significant analyses of the structure of science have been formulated, as expressed through its propositions and theories. However, by mainly emphasizing the highlighting of the structure of science, the philosophy of science has neglected the processes of its formation.
Contemporary approaches, with the help of historiographical, sociological, and ethnographic methods, reveal a complex, rich, and dynamic understanding of the processes of its formation based on the epistemology of practice. (Shapin, Latour, Knorr Cetina, Pickering, Rheinberger, Chang, et al.)
With the aid of an epistemology of practice, the philosophy of science is called upon to address metaphysical and epistemological issues that have always concerned it, formulating new concepts and interpretations of science and reality.
