Imprisoned in Bangkok on charges of drug trafficking, Manuel Manrique, a Colombian philosophy student, faces the risk of a death sentence. He entrusts his story to the Colombian consul in New Delhi, the only person who seems willing to listen to him. Through this confession, his lonely life unfolds, his escape from an unbearable daily reality through literature and cinema, but above all, the long journey he has undertaken to find his sister Juana again.
Juana has been missing for four years. In search of her, Manuel ended up in Bangkok, on his way to Tokyo, where he has learned she is living, entangled in a prostitution ring. What Manuel does not know will be told by Juana herself, while the consul, deeply moved by their story, will do everything possible to reunite the two siblings.
From Bogotá to Tokyo and from New Delhi to Tehran, the author leads us into a world where love, violence, loneliness, and guilt coexist. A novel about Colombia under the heavy shadow of drugs and paramilitary organizations, about the lonely souls in the great metropolises of the world, but above all, about love.

Read an excerpt:
"The consul opened the envelope and began to read the documents. It was a case that seemed lost from the outset, a story full of dark spots and silences. The young Colombian who was in the Bangkok prison did not have much hope, and the Thai authorities showed no willingness to cooperate.
He looked out the window at the rain falling relentlessly over the city and felt a weight on his chest. He knew that behind this arrest lay something much bigger, something that started from the streets of Bogotá and reached the highest levels of power in his homeland.
He had to find a way to contact the boy's sister. She was the only person who could provide answers, although he suspected that her story would be even more painful than the one he had before him on paper."
