In 1861, a Greek anarchist, Plutinos Rodoakanakis, travels from Europe to the New World. He studied medicine in Vienna and Berlin, philosophy in Paris, and was nurtured with the philosophical ideas and political theories of the time.
Influenced by Saint-Simon, Pierre-Joseph Proudhon, and Karl Furié, he arrives in Mexico with the aim of applying his socialist ideas, which he advocated consistently for twenty-five years. In this country, Plutinos Rodoakanakis implanted ideas that were difficult to understand elsewhere.
The name of Plutinos Rodoakanakis will illuminate the vision for equality and justice among the forgotten of Mexican land, alongside that of Emiliano Zapata, who remains the legendary hero of Mexico's dispossessed, and in whose name even today the oppressed rise up in rebellion.
