Excellent keyboard for the money

Coming from a SteelSeries Apex 7 and having tried quite a few keyboards, from membrane and budget gaming models to more expensive mainstream ones (Corsair k55, Razer Ornata, Razer Blackwidow, Logitech g413, HyperX, AJAZZ, Microsoft Sidewinder, etc.), I can say that Keychron has impressed me. I have also used the Keychron B6 at work, and my experience was equally positive.

The V6 Ultra 8K is very sturdy and well made, with an excellent typing feel. The Silk POM Red switches are linear, smooth, and highly responsive, while the keyboard is quite quiet for a mechanical one, with no click and a very nice, “contained” sound thanks in part to the acoustic foam layers inside. The 8,000 Hz polling rate, 2.4 GHz wireless, Bluetooth, USB-C, hot-swap capability, programmable keys, and volume knob round out a very complete package for gaming and work.

The Keychron Launcher is also a plus, as it works through a browser instead of a separate application. It does require an internet connection to access, but it doesn't burden the computer with yet another program running in the background or launching with Windows.

The battery has been excellent so far. Weeks have passed on a single full charge, and I haven't needed to charge it yet.

On the downside: RGB lighting isn't its strong suit. The keycaps aren't shine-through, so the legends don't light up, while the off-white color of the switches makes the white RGB look slightly beige. Personally, it doesn't bother me much, as I'm not an RGB fan, but it's worth knowing before buying. Also, a wrist rest isn't included, but the Keychron R52 can be purchased separately for about €15. The packaging is also very thoughtfully put together and includes extra keycaps, a USB-C to USB-A adapter, a sleeved cable, a keycap/switch puller, and a small screwdriver.

Overall, so far it has checked almost all the boxes. For its price, it offers a truly premium experience and, even compared to the more expensive keyboard I've ever owned (SteelSeries Apex 7, €170), the difference in feel is truly night and day. The only things left to see are the after-sales support and how well it holds up over time.

Class above flagship models in the space such as Corsair and Razer models that charge 300 and 400 euros and are made for 30 and 40 in Chinese factories. Value for money and the ability to replace each key individually in case of damage (instead of sending it back), without being charged the cost of the advertising of the giants in the field. If you haven't heard of Keychron, it is worth looking into the features of the keyboards they make.
