Description

It is often heard, and it is correct, the opinion that for the great writers of antiquity, each generation creates its own translation. However, it is equally true that certain translations, recognized for their fidelity, quality, and ethics, become classic texts in their own right.

Such works of timeless value are undoubtedly the translations of the Iliad and the Odyssey crafted by N. Kazantzakis and I. Kakridis, significant monuments of modern Greek literature that have earned the appreciation of philologists and the love of readers since they were first published in 1955 and 1965 respectively.

I have only read the first two rhapsodies and I am captivated. Honestly, if you found the movie interesting, it is worth reading the book as well. The language is incredible and the vocabulary is rich. There is also a glossary at the end

The quality of the paper, the printing, the binding, is excellent. It is a softcover, but it gives you the feeling that it is hard. It is better than I expected.

The only downside is the translation by Kazantzakis - Kakridis, which is excessive, but I knew it from my school years. However, since I wanted to have a keepsake of our ancient Greek literature with good quality materials to last over time, I preferred it.
