Description

War, Occupation, Resistance, Civil War.

In the 1940s, the most contradictory and traumatic period in modern Greek history, two men from the "noble Athenian society" begin together, from the same starting point, only to end up in two different worlds:

The first becomes a ruthless collaborator, a close associate of the Nazis, follows them when they leave Greece, is arrested, prosecuted, and imprisoned in disgrace. The second joins the Resistance, assumes a leadership role in EAM, becomes a communist, and fights in the Civil War on the side of the defeated, then follows the path of exile.

What motives led to their different choices? What lies behind their personal conflict? How are they portrayed through the eyes of the women who accompany them? How did they face the major dilemmas and the violent break from their pre-war lives? How distinguishable are Good and Evil?

An exciting story with real people and events about vanity and utopia, the pursuit of power, love, and justice, which concludes the "Triology on Memory," also including the books The Madness to Change the World (2022) and The Night Pavlos Left (2023). Through the personal adventures of the protagonists, the contemporary history of the country is vividly depicted.
