Description

Experience the ultimate dark fantasy of feudal Japan with Onimusha Way Of The Sword. Fight on blood-soaked battlefields in Edo-period Kyoto, facing the monstrous hordes of the Genma. Take on the role of the legendary samurai Miyamoto Musashi, harness the mysterious power of the Oni Gauntlet, and absorb the souls of your enemies to unlock superhuman abilities. An epic action game filled with intense duels, historical locations, and an immersive story that will keep you on the edge of your seat from the first to the last minute.

Blood-Soaked Battles in Feudal Japan

Fight on blood-soaked battlefields filled with intense action and immersive sword duels. Onimusha Way Of The Sword invites you to explore the historic Japanese capital of Kyoto during the Edo period, which has been distorted by the malevolent clouds of Malice. Each level is shrouded in mystery, danger, and intrigue, challenging you to survive in a world where death lurks around every corner.

The Legendary Samurai Miyamoto Musashi

The protagonist of the game is Miyamoto Musashi, a passionate and fierce young samurai who arrives in Kyoto determined to prove that he is unbeatable in the art of the sword. To portray this impressive warrior in the most iconic way, Capcom used the late legend of Japanese samurai films, Toshiro Mifune, as the face model, giving the character a unique, historical aura.

The Mysterious Power of the Oni Gauntlet

Follow the story of the samurai as he wields the Oni Gauntlet, a mysterious artifact that grants him powers beyond human limits. In addition to the essential strength it gives him to slaughter his enemies, the gauntlet possesses numerous other abilities, such as absorbing the souls of the Genma and transforming them into a source of energy to further enhance the warrior. But what is the eerie voice that echoes from within the gauntlet?

Face the Monstrous Hordes of Genma

Take part in a dark fantasy story and fight against abominable underworld monsters known as Genma. These evil creatures, which usually dwell in the deepest pits of hell, have found a way into the world of the living due to the Corruption that has engulfed Kyoto. Their relentless brutality has plunged the capital into a state of absolute terror and panic.

Fierce Rivals and Death Matches

In his battle against the threat of the Genma, Musashi will not only face ordinary monsters, but also powerful boss opponents whose combat prowess and sword skills rival his own. Bloody duels to the death await you in the streets of the capital, where you must employ perfect timing and strategy. Will you manage to triumph or will you fall heroically on the battlefield?

Historic Kyoto Distorted by Darkness

The setting of the game unfolds in the beautiful Kyoto of the Edo period, a city that hosts countless shrines and historic temples, such as the famous Kiyomizu-dera temple. However, as the city has been tainted by the dark energy of Corruption, the familiar appearance of the capital begins to take on an extremely eerie, occult, and menacing look, creating the ideal atmosphere for an epic tale of revenge.

What do users say? AI-generated summary

Users rate it very highly, especially praising the satisfying combat system and engaging story. They also commend the graphics, atmosphere, and exploration, with many considering it a strong return for the series. However, several find the difficulty—particularly in boss fights—excessive, and some mention repetition in the story or boss encounters.

    Good overall.
    1. A successor to a series of great games that were different for their time.
    2. The graphics could be better. It is a 2026 game, after all.
    3. The story drags a bit at some point, for my taste, to the point where you’ll feel like you’re repeating the same main/side mission.
    4. A powerful and enjoyable fight system. For an average player, it’s better to choose Easy (you’ll die 4–6 times, then you’ll get the hang of it).

    It’s worth trying.
It won’t stay etched in your memory like Onimusha 2.

The Story difficulty really should have been accessible, Capcom. Even on easy, the game is tough. When you say it’s an action hack-and-slash game, it should be like God of War, for example. Don’t get it for a little kid; unfortunately, it’s tough, especially the bosses. Even on the supposedly easy difficulty, they’ll beat you down many times, no matter how many upgrades you have. I don’t know if an update will come out and make easy a little more forgiving; for now, it’s tough. Other than that, it’s a wonderful game with great combat. Four stars from me because of the difficulty. That’s all.

    Positives:

Story and Atmosphere: A very interesting and enjoyable story that combines action with a generous dose of humor.

Combat System: Excellent, addictive, and enjoyable combat.

Graphics and Exploration: A beautiful visual style with very carefully crafted environments and fun exploration that rewards you.

    Negatives:

Weapon Variety: I would have liked a greater variety of equipment, as beyond the sword (katana), there are no other weapon options.

Repeated Bosses: Some bosses are repeated several times throughout the game.

Camera Angles: In some situations, such as in tight spaces with many enemies, the camera becomes a little difficult to manage.

    Summary:
An excellent GAME with an awesome atmosphere and top-notch combat. Despite the lack of other weapons and the repetition of some bosses, it remains an excellent experience that is definitely worth playing!

After Sekiro, I think it's the best samurai videogame.
Amazing combat system... great story and graphics.
I didn't expect it to be this good.
Ghost and Assassin's, the recent comparable ones, don't hold a candle to it.
It has something of the magic of soulslikes that makes you want to face the bosses again and again.

The great return of the biggest horror hack n slash. We had been waiting for years for Capcom’s forgotten little gem, and what a comeback it made to reintroduce itself to us! Now with linear, modernized gameplay, making it even more addictive and richer, while adding innovative swordplay to combat. A game for both longtime fans and newcomers.
