The modeling figure represents the PT boats of the United States Navy during World War II. By 1941, there were a total of 29 PT boats in the Navy, while by December 1943, 29 squadrons had been formed.
By the end of the war, the PT boats, including the LCI, numbered around 7,000 vessels of 80 types. The first PT boats had up to 4 torpedoes and 2 twin .50 Cal machine guns on a motorized mount, a heavy load for the time. Soon, a 20-millimeter cannon was added at the stern for surface and air action. Additionally, the crews installed a USAAF 37-millimeter automatic cannon, which proved very effective.
