Fidel Castro Ruz (1926-2016) was one of the last living dedicated revolutionaries of the 20th century. He led the armed struggle in Cuba and subsequently the Revolution from the position of President of Cuba and as head of the Communist Party of Cuba. He unwaveringly guided the struggle of his people to build socialism. He never bent under the difficult conditions of imperialist aggression and encirclement. Fidel’s persona garnered the respect and admiration of millions of workers and common people worldwide, becoming a symbol of resistance and the fight against exploitation. He remains in History as a genuine global popular hero.
In 2026, the people of Cuba celebrate the "Year of Fidel," as on August 13, 100 years have passed since his birth. This Collection of Texts by the leader of the Communist Party of Cuba is also dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Fidel Castro Ruz.
The edition includes important articles and speeches of his, which help to understand aspects of the Cuban Revolution and the Communist Party of Cuba. It contains narratives about his childhood and adolescent years. It explains the events that pushed him to lead the armed struggle up to the victory of the Revolution, as well as assessments he made until the end of his life. Texts that highlight how "really crude is the capitalist system, which is responsible for the existence of all this misery, so many calamities, the capitalist selfishness, the capitalist exploitation," as he himself stated, while illuminating the necessity of our era: Socialism.
