    This review is about the cover: Soft

    not a light subject, yet presented not heavily, with emphasis on the externalization of emotions, in a not at all distant future.

    an unusual way of writing in my opinion, so that reading is clearly possible for completely different age groups.

    always in my opinion, it gives a particularly positive version of AI / robot "replicants", in the style of the well-known film series blade runner (+ 2049), without there being any direct relation to it, in the book's theme and in the author's stance.

    a very human novel, presented from an intelligent point of view, it flows quickly despite its, not small, size. perhaps also timely:

    (a) to the extent that we tend to forget our human nature and the concepts of well-intentioned faith and hope, due to the modern, quite impersonal and "mechanistic" way of life, with an inherent reduction of awareness / empathy &

    (b) to the extent that we adopt that technological progress can have a positive impact depending on the social and moral "denominator" chosen. provided, of course, that this progress does not remain in the hands of a few as a new oligarchy. Or as a means of indirect "immortality" in the hands of many.

    there are, probably not presented in sufficient depth, two more interesting moral parameters, regarding:
    (i) the possibility that in the end a new "species" is created, without the rights it might be entitled to after the "end" of whatever use...
    (ii) the possibility that new permanent forms of inequality may arise, which may imply a technologically very advanced "middle ages" in terms of stratification and opportunities for personal progress and development.

Description & Specifications

Ένα βαθιά συγκινητικό βιβλίο που μας προσφέρει μια μοναδική άποψη του διαρκώς μεταβαλλόμενου κόσμου μας μέσα από τα μάτια μιας αξέχαστης αφηγήτριας. Η αριστοτεχνικά συγκρατημένη πρόζα του Ισιγκούρο ενισχύει τη συναισθηματική δύναμη και τη σπάνια τρυφερότητα του κειμένου, που διερευνά το πλέον θεμελιώδες ερώτημα: Τι σημαίνει στ’ αλήθεια ν’ αγαπάς;
