The management of change, school effectiveness, and strategic planning in education are three themes that are currently being explored by many educational systems around the world. It has now become clear that without systematic change management, no educational system can survive and adapt to the rapid changes occurring in the environment around us. At the same time, educational systems are called to understand that change must be planned and strategically designed to ultimately achieve the desired results.
Finally, to ensure success, we need to rely on research findings on the effectiveness and improvement of educational units and systems internationally. Only through policies grounded in modern research can we consider that our educational systems have a future. Otherwise, the risk that the educational systems of Cyprus and Greece remain attached to the past and outdated is evident.
Therefore, we hope that the reader will find many of the answers to issues related to change management, school effectiveness, and strategic planning in education, within the chapters of these two volumes. This work consists of two volumes that are complementary to each other. At the same time, however, they can be utilized as two independent texts.
The first volume, titled “Change Management, School Effectiveness, and Improvement,” consists of 12 chapters in which all topics related to the management of the process of change in education and school effectiveness are presented and analyzed. The second volume, titled “Strategic Planning in Education,” consists of 9 chapters in which all topics related to strategic planning in education are presented and analyzed.
These books are aimed at and will be very useful for educators at all levels (from kindergarten to university), as well as for school counselors, mentors, evaluators, assistant principals, and school principals, students, academics, researchers, and officials of the Ministries of Education in both Cyprus and Greece.
