The management of change, school effectiveness, and strategic planning in education are three themes currently explored by many educational systems worldwide. It has now become clear that without systematic change management, no educational system can survive and adapt to the rapid changes happening in the environment around us.
At the same time, educational systems are called to realize that change must be planned and strategically designed in order to achieve the desired outcomes at the end of the process. Finally, to have guarantees of success, we need to rely on research findings regarding the effectiveness and improvement of schools and educational systems internationally. Only through policies based on modern research can we consider that our educational systems have prospects.
Otherwise, the risk that the educational systems in Cyprus and Greece will remain attached to the past and become outdated is evident. Therefore, we aspire that the reader will find many answers to issues concerning change management, school effectiveness, and strategic planning in education through the chapters of the two volumes.
This work consists of two volumes that are complementary to each other. At the same time, however, they can be utilized as two independent texts. The first volume, titled “Change Management, School Effectiveness, and Improvement,” consists of 12 chapters where all topics related to the management of the change process in education and school effectiveness are presented and analyzed.
The second volume, titled “Strategic Planning in Education,” consists of 9 chapters where all topics related to strategic planning in education are presented and analyzed. These books are aimed at and will be very useful for educators at all levels (from kindergarten to university), as well as for school counselors, mentors, evaluators, assistant principals, and principals of educational institutions, students, academics, researchers, and officials from the Ministries of Education in both Cyprus and Greece.
