Along with the thousands of Pontians who left their sacred ancestral lands and came as refugees to mother Greece, there were also many families with the last name Gavras, descendants of Saint Theodoros Gavras.
One of these was that of Leonidas Gavrielidis -formerly Gavras-, the son of George and Sophia, who recounts to the author the adventurous life of his family, as well as that of his wife Cleopatra, in order to compose this autobiographical novel.
The couple Gavrielidis returned exactly half a century later from distant Australia to the native land of the main hero Leonidas, in the town of Stavroupoli Xanthi, where he recounts the countless charitable acts of his parents and relatives, as if the spirit of their saintly ancestor had passed directly into their own bodies, philosophizing about life in his own way.…
