Description

The texts of this book concern the current value of the highly valuable, within its temporal dimensions, Cavafy poetry. The first part presents its “practical value,” which is identified in the identification, psychological reactions, and representational intentions in front of Cavafy's poetry.

On the other hand, the "objective value" is sought as a process of activity and activation of the Cavafian discourse in terms of the 21st century, taking into account the impossibility of returning to the original without the inclusion of all that has intervened over the past century until the formation of our modern suspicion.

The second part of the book addresses Cavafy's poetry as an example of rendering the historical event through poetic discourse using terms based on Gilles Deleuze's Logic of Sense. The historical event is elevated to poetry as it captures the significance of the transitional moments of History and linguistically materializes the primary historical facts, such as that of the “battle.”

This realization of the “battle” in poetic discourse offers the ground for a reading that acquires characteristics of performance and captures the verb dynamic of each poem as a challenge for re-examining the nomadic nature of historical experience. The publication is complemented by an anthology that gathers the Cavafian poems referenced in the book.

The most common view of the writing process is that the poet writes to give form to their feelings and thoughts. They do not transmit through writing what is clear in their mind; they are explorers, not journalists, nor historians or propagandists. The theme of each poem is the significance, the meaning of the things that the poem acquires for the poet himself: after evaluating the various fragments of experience accumulated in their mind, they begin to realize the pattern that exists within them. They often work hard until they find the theme hidden within the material of each poem, which can also serve as a form of self-exploration. One of the rewards of the poem is that it reveals (however cryptic and fragmentary) to the poet what they think and feel, what they are, what they were, and what they will be, where they come from, and where they are heading.
