Stadiou 40. An address intertwined with 85 years of history of Alpha Bank. This address was relocated to Athens from Kalamata in 1924, carrying the name Kalamon Bank, and later became known as the Bank of Greek Commercial Credit.
With the turn of the century, the Bank, after being acquired and merged with Ionian Bank and renamed Alpha Bank, occupies half the city block bounded by Stadiou, Korai, University, and Pesmazoglou streets.
On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of Alpha Bank's establishment, Professor Dimitris Philippidis was commissioned to chronicle the history of the city block 19, from the relocation of the capital of the newly established Greek State from Nafplio to Athens in the 19th century, to the present day.
