Description

Description

“The books we need are those that fall like an axe into the frozen sea of our soul,” wrote Kafka to Oscar Pollak a few years before the writing of The Metamorphosis, a work that undoubtedly belongs exactly to this category of books.

The Metamorphosis was written in 1912 and published in 1915 – one of the few works by the Czech author that were published while he was still alive. The core of the myth of The Metamorphosis is as simple as it is incomprehensible: Gregor Samsa, an ordinary man, wakes up one morning transformed into a bug.

Review this product
  • Paper quality
  • Was it easy to read?
  • Was it interesting enough?
  • I liked the writing style
  • I would read a book by the same author
  • I would recommend it for reading
  • Excellent book.

So simply written with so many meanings and frighteningly relevant.

    For me, Kafka's best.

After all, it is also one of those that was published with his consent.

  • Gregor wakes up one morning and has transformed into a gigantic insect. The protagonist was the one who worked for his family and supported them financially. But when this accident happened to him, his family showed their true colors and as the days went by, they treated Gregor as a burden until they began to mistreat him. Due to his transformation, Gregor could not communicate verbally with his family and so, day by day, he began to "fade away"....
It is a heavy book with many meanings and it will definitely leave you shocked.
All of the above is an allegory for how a person is treated and their value is measured only by what they can offer socially. But when that suddenly stops, society treats them as useless, abandons them, and lets them slowly die since they are no longer useful... everyone can draw their own additional conclusions by reading it.

  • It depicts how people mostly focus on appearances and not on the soul and kindness. Small booklet and the writing style is simple, understandable. I liked it and I didn't get bored, I read it in one day.
