  • The first book by Sebastian Fitzek that I have read and I truly have only positive things to say! Excellent writing and a very nice style. The book kept you alert throughout and made you wonder what had really happened. Of course, in the end, I couldn't figure out what had actually happened even though I read the last chapter again and again. Nevertheless, an excellent choice to enter the world of psychological thrillers!

One of the best books by the author!! A book that keeps you glued from the first to the last page! It is yet another psychological thriller by Fitzek that you will love as much as the others! A book that makes you wonder if a person could really think of all this and write it down?? Well, we can tell you that he can and he has succeeded 100% once again! If you haven't read any of the author's books, start with this one and you'll want to read one after the other, just like we did!! It's one of the first books we read and it made us consider the author the best in his genre!! The 5 stars are exactly what it deserves!!

Psychological thrillers, mysteries, and horror are the categories of books I read. At some point, there was a buzz about the book The Package by Fitzek, so it was my first encounter with the author. Since then, I have acquired all his books and have read about 9-10 so far. A few days ago, I was looking for which book to read from this author and I see The Therapy. I have in mind that I have read it. I read the back cover; something reminds me of it, but I am not sure. In the end, I start reading it and realize that I have read it and just don't remember anything. All the Fitzek books I have read have stuck in my mind; this one just passed by and left no impression.

In general, I don't read books. They seem boring to me. In the last 15 years, I have completed only 3 books. "The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck" (multiple times), "We Have No Idea," and "The Cure." I read the first 20 pages and thought, "Okay, I'll take it easy, 15-30 minutes every day." Well, I read the rest in one go the next day; it absorbed me that much.

It keeps your interest throughout and the ending is quite surprising.
But... you reach the last sentence of the book and you say WTF... If someone understood what actually happened, please tell us because I missed it.

I do not understand the bad reviews. Perhaps they read the book expecting what truth? As another reviewer mentioned, until shortly before the end, I thought I had understood everything, but because this particular author has a tendency to make crazy twists, I had reservations. Indeed, worthy!

I bought the book after reading the good reviews! I have read several books of this genre and I can say that this was one of the worst! It is true that it keeps you in suspense, but at some points, you feel like a child is writing it! As for the ending, even though I read from many people that it is surprising, in many parts of the book, you can understand what is happening and therefore, what will happen at the end.... An okay book for vacations, but that's it!

Another excellent psychological thriller by Fitzek.. Fast-paced development without tiring the reader makes them create their own scenarios about what exactly might be happening, for many twists to come at the end, as the author usually does.

One of the best crime/psychological thrillers I have read!
Having read many books in this genre, I can say that I find most of them somewhat predictable. This book kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end, unable to predict what would happen next. The ending is so unexpected that it left me with my mouth wide open! Overall, this particular author writes very directly without boring with excessive and unnecessary descriptions. It's worth every last penny you spend on it!

Description & Specifications

Are you ready to confront yourself? Without witnesses… Twelve-year-old Jozi suffers from an unexplained illness. During a visit to her doctor, she disappears from the office without a trace. She will never be found.

Four years later, her father and psychiatrist Victor Larenz has withdrawn, devastated, to an isolated island in the North Sea, trying to cope with the incomprehensible loss of his daughter… Without a body…

Victor receives an unexpected visit on the island from a beautiful stranger. She is a writer, Anna Spiegel, who suffers from a rare form of schizophrenia. All the characters she creates in her books take on – according to her – flesh and blood, and she begins to communicate with them. In her last story, she wrote about a young girl who suffers from an unknown illness and disappeared without leaving a trace.

Where is his daughter? Is it possible that clues about Jozi's last days are hidden within Anna's delusions? Victor is persuaded to take on her treatment in a desperate attempt to uncover the truth behind his daughter's disappearance.

However, the sessions will soon take a dramatic turn, as the past comes to light, with terrifying consequences. Could the answer lie in the unimaginable? The treatment has begun…

Read an excerpt

"WHEN HALF an hour had passed, he knew that he would never see his daughter again. She had opened the door by herself, turned to give him one last look, and then entered the office of the elderly man. But Josephine, his twelve-year-old daughter, would never come out again. He was sure. She would never look at him again, smiling and beaming all over when he took her to her bed. She would never again turn off her colorful lamp as she fell asleep. And she would never again wake up from her terrifying screams in the night.

This certainty hit him with the sudden force of a violent collision. When he stood up, his body wanted to remain seated in the rickety plastic chair. He wouldn't have been surprised at all if his legs didn't hold him. If he fell down and lay on the worn parquet floor of the waiting room. Right between the burly woman with psoriasis and the table with the old magazines. He wasn't lucky enough to faint, though. He continued to remain conscious.

The examination of patients is not done according to the order of priority, but according to the urgency of their condition. The sign on the white leather door leading to the allergist's office blurred before his eyes. Doctor Grolke was a family friend and doctor number twenty-two. Victor Larentz had made an entire list. The previous twenty-one doctors had failed to find anything. Absolutely nothing."

The biggest potato I have ever read. 10 years ago the book was released and it flopped, marketing took over and made it a bestseller, you will waste time and money staying away.

Very good. Although I haven't finished it yet, as always, it is not at all tiresome and always interesting.

Very good book. Relaxing for reading... When you start it, you don't want to stop... You don't expect the ending at all

Very predictable, it keeps you engaged but I didn't like it at all, I wasted my time.

  • Nice plot and twists, but the ending was predictable and easily foreseen. A good holiday book.

  • One of the best books by the author!!
