Description

Description

Atkins' Physical Chemistry is perhaps the most internationally recognized undergraduate textbook in its field. The presentation of concepts is done in a simple manner, without overlooking scientific rigor where it is necessary, thus giving the reader the opportunity to understand fundamental concepts essential for further study.

The numerous examples, solved exercises, and the rich collection of unsolved problems aid in this direction. This third volume deals with the kinetics of chemical reactions. In the first two chapters, the motion of molecules is studied, starting from the kinetic theory of gases and ending with transport phenomena and the diffusion equation.

Next, the reaction rate is defined and the mechanisms and dynamics of both simple and complex reactions are extensively examined. In the last two chapters, phenomena occurring at solid surfaces are investigated, the action of catalysts is explained, and the processes that take place at electrodes are analyzed.

    Very interesting book!
The problem is that it does not have answers or solutions for the existing exercises at the end of the book. The answers are available on the suggested website from the book (as a PDF file) but only for the exercises with an odd number.
Other than that, it is highly explanatory in all the theory and proofs of the relationships.

In general, the university publications of Crete are the best you can get your hands on.
