Description

The question of what is science has not secured a scientific answer. The ultimate discovery of Anglo-Saxon epistemology is that what is considered scientific is acknowledged as such by the majority of scientists. This means there is no objective method to regard science as the object of science and the scientist as the subject.

The difficulty of scientifically understanding science is heightened by the paradoxical nature of this knowledge. Thus: The unprecedented progress of knowledge is accompanied by an incredible advance of ignorance. The progress of the beneficial aspects of scientific knowledge is coupled with the advancement of its harmful and lethal characteristics.

The increased advancement of the powers of science is accompanied by a growing social inability of scientists to participate in shaping and controlling these powers. Authority is fragmented at the level of research but operates concentrated and interconnected with politics and the economy.

The progress of the natural sciences leads to regression and affects social and personal problems. Ultimately, and this is the most important, the process of fragmented knowledge-power tends to culminate, unless resistance is raised from within the sciences themselves, in a totalitarian transformation of the meaning and function of knowledge.

Knowledge is no longer created for us to think about, contemplate, or discuss as human beings to sharpen our vision of the world and illuminate our actions within it, but is produced to be stored in databases to be handled by anonymous forces.
