Description

The hordes of the invading Shaido have taken over the Emond's Field. Nynaeve, Aviendha, and Elayne are heading to Caemlyn, with the goal of the latter claiming the throne that rightfully belongs to her.

Along the way, however, they discover an enemy much worse than the Shaido. In Ilian, Rand vows to drive off the Shaido, just as he has done in the past, even though signs of madness are appearing among the Asha'man.

Meanwhile, the rebel Aes Sedai, led by the young Amyrlin Egwene al'Vere, face an army that threatens to keep them away from the White Tower. However, Egwene is determined to dethrone the usurper Elaida and reunite the Aes Sedai. Yet, she has not yet realized the price that others - and herself - will have to pay.
