Description

The hordes of invaders known as the Sondshan have taken over Embo Dar. Ninave, Avienda, and Elayne are heading to Caemlyn, with the intention of claiming the throne that rightfully belongs to the latter.

On their journey, however, they discover an enemy far worse than the Sondshan. In Ilian, Rand swears to repel the Sondshan as he has done in the past, even though signs of madness are appearing among the Asha'man ranks.

Meanwhile, the rebel Aes Sedai, led by young Amyrlin Egwene al'Vere, confront an army that threatens to keep them away from the White Tower. However, Egwene is determined to dethrone the usurper Elayne and reunite the Aes Sedai.

Yet, she has not yet realized the price that others—and she herself—will pay.
