Pascal's distinction between the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and the God of philosophers and scientists is certainly solid and fundamental.
On one hand, indeed, the God of the Bible intervenes in history and in the lives of people, with whom you can converse, hope for His mercy, or despair, turn away and return (or not return). On the other hand, the God of philosophers, a creation of a powerful intellect, whether outside of Judeo-Christian culture (Ancient Greece) or within it, is closely tied to the needs and aspirations of a philosophical theory or system, with no room for a personal bond with Him.
However, the relationship between the biblical and the philosophical God is so rich and complex that it cannot be subjected to such an absolute dichotomy. Pascal's answer in favor of the former and against the latter did not close the discussion or the dispute. Although it may have been adopted by an entire school of thought, many other thinkers, who were simultaneously people of faith, will not accept it and will develop their work under the strictest terms of philosophizing, up to this day.
