The volume examines the past and present of "Citizenship" in Europe over the last two centuries. More than thirty researchers from nineteen countries contribute to the publication, approaching the issue in both its theoretical and practical dimensions.
Europe is built on history: it is the product of an enlightened awareness that a strong and innovative state created from many countries is the alternative to the rivalries, conflicts, and destructive wars that have characterized its past.
This is the knowledge that needs to become common knowledge, on which Europe can build its future.
