Description & Specifications

Since the end of the Cold War until today, Greece has faced an increasing number of challenges and dilemmas in its foreign policy, both traditional issues such as the relationship with Turkey or the nature of cooperation with the USA, as well as new ones, such as energy issues, migration-refugee matters, and collaboration with China.

In what way and to what degree of success have Greek governments and society reacted within a rapidly changing international and internal environment? This volume seeks, first, to answer the above question and, second, to examine the key choices and expectations of Greek foreign policy in the 21st century.

The individual chapters highlight the character and dynamics of Greece's foreign policy through a broad perspective and offer a critical view of both traditional and alternative perspectives on Greek foreign policy and strategy. In this way, the reader can perceive the developments in their real dimensions and reflect on the most significant issues concerning Greek foreign policy.

This collective volume fills the gap in the existing literature on Greek foreign policy from the beginning of the new millennium to the present, with a significant chronological landmark being the outbreak of the economic crisis in Greece in 2010.
