A great drive, as has been said it raises thermal temperatures but all is okay, nothing tragic.
WARNING: the latest update of Windows 11 (24H2) may cause Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) for users with Western Digital SN770 SSD (and other WD/SanDisk models like SN580, SN770M, etc.).
Mainly the 2TB models of WD SN770, SN770M, SN580, SN5000 and SanDisk Extreme NVMe SSDs.
The problem arises from changes in the Host Memory Buffer (HMB) memory allocation in Windows 11 24H2, where the operating system allows up to 200MB (previously had a limit of 64MB).

The 1TB version does not seem to be affected, however, WD has released new firmware that fixes the issue.
So do the update to keep your mind at ease. It's a simple process, just go to the WD website, download the tool for the drives, and upgrade the firmware of the drive.

UPDATE Changing from 3 to 1 star because the price is over 400 euros. This is not a stock, guys, Greeks who want to make a quick buck.

If you are thinking of getting a drive, get either the 990 PRO (NOT THE EVO PLUS, IT DOESN'T HAVE DRAM EITHER) or a better model like the 850x (if I remember the name correctly) but NOT THE 770!!!!

VFM with a good balance between speed, quality, and price. Western Digital value. In general, the black series is very high quality

Quite satisfied with its performance. I use it for storing CAD files and it loads them very quickly and without any stuttering.
I don't use it for games so I have no opinion on its performance in such scenarios.
It is considered one of the reliable drives but with a slightly lower write limit compared to the competition. I bought 4 for RAID and so far they have not shown the slightest problem.

    Purchase 11/12/23.
I read the reviews, mainly the negative ones. I have Windows 11 Pro on this drive. So far I have had no problems at all. No freezes or delays. Updates are done normally. A few days ago, Windows 11 Pro was updated to version 25H2.

What is happening is a shame. I had bought it for €65 (I checked my Skroutz purchase history) and now I see it for €300 to €500.

So far very fast (it has been connected to a mac mini m4 16gb as an external drive and it is faster than the internal one). It reaches high temperatures although from what I read this is not a problem. The drive has been connected with an aluminum case and touching it is scalding. On the other hand, running a program I read a max temperature around 70. I read that there is a problem from 80 and above

The only thing it has offered me is freezes, random restarts, problems in games, freezes on the computer, and generally a headache every time I turn on my computer. I bitterly regret buying it while I thought the brand was reliable; it ultimately betrayed me. I should have paid attention to the other reviews that said the product is problematic.

I have the 500GB model. It has been working flawlessly since 5/24. Today it has health at 99%, having written more than 7TB. Even in the summer, under typical usage, I saw temperatures slightly higher than the environment. The number (300) it has in TBW for TLC memories is normal. Very worthwhile purchase.

The writing speed is at a mediocre SATA level at best. Sometimes it doesn't complete the CrystalDisk Mark 8 test. I also tested it on a Mac, with similar results. As an external drive, always, with two different enclosures of 10 and 20 Gbps and USB-C 3.2.

The Western Digital SN770 is SanDisk. I sent it with RMA to SanDisk UK Limited and I'm waiting... SanDisk does not provide a prepaid label despite having a partnership with UPS.

Perhaps the most stable value in an NVMe drive. It may be DRAM-less, but you don't notice it anywhere, and WD's claims about excellent optimization of the NAND and the controller are likely 100% true. In a system that runs alongside the 850x, I can't discern any difference in general use. The (any) superiority of the 850x will only be evident in benchmarks and the stated specs on the packaging. Ideal for very fast storage, at an excellent price for the speeds it offers, it will not disappoint in the slightest even as an OS drive.

I installed it as a second SSD in my desktop for game storage, using a PCI Express 4.0 slot. So the speed is incredible, as you can see in the screenshots compared to the already installed SSD in the desktop (Patriot P300 SSD 1TB M.2 NVMe PCI Express 3.0). No reliability issues so far, but I've only been using it for 2 months.

Installed on a 2013 Macbook Air with an adapter. Although the intentions of the Chinese adapter regarding its impact on the speed of the WD are unknown, in measurements with BlackMagic, it consistently delivers the promised speeds. It remains to be seen over time. The speeds you see are the speeds that the Macbook's motherboard (we're talking about 2013!) can achieve and are better than the speeds provided by the NVMe that originally accompanied the Macbook.
I have not tested it on a faster machine to verify the speeds of 4,500 that the manufacturer claims. Overall, I highly recommend it.
(8 months later) It continues to operate flawlessly at the initial speeds without issues with the cache or anything else. The only change I made was replacing the simple (plain) adapter that was causing problems with another one that has a width! The assessment concerns the daily operation of the laptop with several hours every day and continuous saving-deleting of files (music-movies-photos)

It reaches high temperatures although from what I read this is not a problem. The drive has been connected with an aluminum case and touching it is scalding. On the other hand, running a program I read a max temperature around 70. I read that there is a problem from 80 and above

Bought on December 2024, so far (May 2025) it's been an excellent addition to my PC. Very easy to Install on a Mag B550 Tomahawk motherboard.

This review is about the capacity: 500 GB

I have had it for a few days. It was installed in a second NVMe slot on an MSI B550 Gaming Edge WiFi. I put it in purely for gaming and it runs smoothly at good temperatures and speeds.

I have had this specific disk for a while now. As far as performance goes, I use it for my game library and it works great compared to the old HDD I had. What impressed me is how cool it is. It stays at 45 degrees while my corresponding Samsung main drive goes up to 60 degrees.

It does what it promises. We will see over time how it will hold up. I will update accordingly.

The 4 stars are because the software that comes for migration (cloning) is terrible. Do NOT expect to easily migrate like Samsung's. If you have the knowledge, do it with different software, otherwise be sure to format.

One of the best choices at this price and has such good reviews. I bought it for 100€ and if you can find it for less it's super. It does what it promises. It is one of the most economical pci 4.0 nvme with 2 tb without sacrificing anything. You save how many cents compared to the equivalent samsung without the slightest downgrade

For its price, it is definitely worth it for both recording and data transfer. You can go faster, but it's not worth an extra 40€. Especially for builds worth 700-900€, it is highly worth it so you can spend money on other parts and not waste 100€ on Nvme. Buy it!

  • Quite satisfied with its performance.
