Description

The theme of the 2nd Scientific Conference, a joint effort of the University of Piraeus and the Court of Auditors, is more relevant than ever. The need for Law as a science to follow, monitor, and surround technological developments in a protective manner is rapidly increasing, as the changes in modern reality are swift.

The law is in a continuous interaction through which it evolves, outlining new boundaries of protection for society, the economy, entrepreneurship, and technological progress in general.

Technological advances are intertwined with the structure and functioning of societies. Their use requires ongoing education and awareness regarding the rights and obligations that stem from them.

Furthermore, ethics, whether as deontology or as traditionally established principles, must be considered during the legislative process to avoid discrepancies between legal perspectives, technologies, and society.

Proper delimitation and use, intervention tools (direct or indirect), the restriction of excessive legislation or misuse, respect for constitutionally protected human rights, and the swift administration of justice (to produce sufficient jurisprudence — derivative law) are guarantees for the evolutionary course of law in relation to technological developments.
