Description

With the elusive spin that would follow a night sunflower, the art of Z. Z. -joyfully validated in this third of her books, which is also her first novel- proves that one can write as if trying to unravel the world's sorrows or as if exorcising their solutions.

The pervasive theme of these stories: how one tastes honey on the axe, is also the answer to the fascinating weakness of the narrator: unable to bear the malaise of silence, she heals her silence with literature.

The reader has the rare fortune to enter an heraldic world, where people exist like shattered reflections, which intertwine in the narrative fabric in the enigmatic way that a musical phrase unexpectedly intrudes into a painting.

Review this product
  • Paper quality
  • Was it easy to read?
  • Was it interesting enough?
  • I liked the writing style
  • I would read a book by the same author
  • I would recommend it for reading
  • Zyranna Zateli weaves, in a novel of magical realism, the lives of the people of an (over)extended family at the end of the 19th century, playing with the dimension of time like a cat with its yarn. Passion, loss, despair, pain, and pleasure are some of the emotions of the heroes and heroines, whose stories the author narrates in a unique way, opening wide the shutters of folklore. Masterful literature, it gives the sense that no different, more appropriate words could have been used for what is described.

This review is about a variation of the product

When we talk about contemporary Greek literature, we can only talk about Z.Z.
Magical, subtly shaded, full of images that compose a wonderful surrealistic painting embroidered with fine needlework threads weaving fairies and elves!
I adore her and recommend all of her books!

(I would name the trilogy "One Hundred Years of Solitude" in its Greek version)
I adore it and recommend all of her books!
