The most significant economic phenomenon of recent decades is the process of Globalization, primarily due to its changing characteristics and its extremely important implications.

This development has highlighted International Economic Relations as the area of Economic theory that is at the forefront of economic thought, both as an issue for theory that must evolve in order to analyze it, and as a key requirement in terms of economic policy.

Beyond International Trade and International Monetary Relations, the content of International Economic Relations has significantly expanded over the last 20-30 years to include the theory of Economic and Monetary Integration as well as the International Movements of Productive Factors.

Furthermore, the issue of globalization serves as the framework within which international economic relations are analyzed, as well as the functioning of modern economies in general.
