The Primasem freesia bulb produces double purple, fragrant flowers on elongated stems. It is planted in autumn and blooms in spring, approximately 12–13 weeks after planting. It can reach a height of 0.30 m and is perennial.

After flowering, once the leaves have dried, the bulbs can be dug up and stored in a dry, dark place until autumn.
