Description

Description

The current international challenges are disrupting the geopolitical balances in various regions of the planet. Globally, the United States is striving to contain China's dynamic development in technological and military sectors to remain the undisputed superpower for the foreseeable future. Donald Trump's second presidency has been marked by the implementation of transactional diplomacy at the expense of International Law rules.

The Russia-Ukraine war had divisive effects on the Euro-Atlantic alliance, while simultaneously weakening Russia, which is tending to become a satellite of China, despite occasional alliances with North Korea, Iran, Turkey, and others. In this new global geopolitical scene, the trajectory of India is particularly interesting, as it has formed a power duo with China, focusing global attention on the Indian and Pacific Oceans, in conjunction with the geopolitical issue of Taiwan and China's expansionist policies towards the south.

This work also examines the new energy formations and geopolitical shifts in the Eastern Mediterranean, where current realities are due to global and regional power shifts and the discovery of new hydrocarbon sources. Greece, Cyprus, Israel, and Egypt seek institutional cooperation within a new security architecture shaped by the global energy chessboard, in which, beyond the USA and Russia, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Iran play leading roles.
