The scientist, to the extent that they produce scientific work, is a shaping factor of culture, exerting influence, either positive or negative, on the evolution of the social structure. Due to this role, the scientist cannot imply or attract the neutrality of science in order to remain outside the shaping of the theological or social developments of the era. Historians of science are well aware that: the end of a significant scientific revolution marks the beginning of important social and theological realignments.
The great scientific revolution that occurred in the 20th century is nearing its end; however, it remains dogmatically outside the cognitive framework of the average citizen, as it is considered dangerous for a social and religious structure that no longer convinces people of its intentions. Western civilization is in collapse. Theology and the social structure must adapt and transform to accept and handle new scientific discoveries, which can no longer remain marginal.
In the moment of great cultural crisis, the scientist, as in other similar periods, must dare to embody the powerful hand for overcoming the crisis, expressing themselves freely on all levels, regardless of the social or professional cost, which at times can be immeasurable.
