The meaning of life is a central concept that has occupied and continues to occupy many theorists, primarily from the humanistic-existential approach, and it seems to play a crucial role in maintaining mental health.
The will for meaning - or, in other words, the human effort to find some meaning in their "confused" and "finitive" existence - is considered one of the fundamental motivations of human behavior. The feeling of lack of meaning can lead to existential frustration and existential vacuum, and is often indicative of psychopathology.
It underlies serious problems of modern man, such as depression, anxiety, addiction, and aggression, while in some cases it can even lead to death.
The central axis that runs through the book is an optimistic attempt to "transition" from the various psychopathological problems that torment humans to what we call "the meaning of life."
