A significant figure in Greek Theater Studies, Dimitris Spathis, through his rich research work, his restless scientific reflection, his teaching tenure, and the consistency of his life, has been, directly or indirectly, a teacher for many younger theater scholars.
His contribution to the research on the history of modern Greek theater is particularly important, which he continues to pursue today with youthful passion and original thought.
The collaborators of this volume decided to honor him for his contributions by presenting him with a recent scientific work of theirs. The studies gathered here address issues of the history of modern Greek theater, primarily over the last three centuries, and are published in chronological order of their subjects, thus offering the reader the opportunity for an interesting historical journey.
