The art and its various expressions, whether we are talking about music, dance, drama, or the arts of language, seem to address a more primordial period of humanity, where language had not yet been liberated but formed part of a subjective experience that condensed emotion, sensation, and speech into a single whole. This is one of our many clumsy attempts to describe the catalytic effect that a work of art has on the entirety of the psyche and the senses.

This book, unique in the Greek literature, presents the contribution of Art Therapies to Psychiatric Treatment, the various forms of these interventions, the ways of applying them, their indications, contemporary research regarding their validity, as well as the training in these therapies.

Through its eclecticism and heterogeneity, it aims to enrich the world of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy with the idea that therapies through Art could play a central role in a more structured and comprehensive approach to the patient as a more complex human being than we may think.
