This edition has a peculiarity. It is not the product of a symposium but gathers a significant portion of the concerns that occupy museology and also concern us in the postgraduate program. That is, issues related to the teaching of art history and the nature of cultural studies, issues concerning the formation of the very body of art by institutional creators, historians, critics, and curators.
Issues of the ideological burden of art today, both in our Balkan neighborhood and in its globalized context, issues of the public and private institutional environment of art in the recent past of the 70s in Greece, issues of 'writing' history and the mediated perception of museum visitors. In other words, it examines issues that fall within the broader cultural field taught in the theoretical courses of the first semester of each study cycle and that inevitably concern the museologist long before they begin to think about any museological planning of meanings.
However, at the same time, by introducing a historical perspective on Greece's very recent visual expressions, such as graffiti, the volume also functions as an institutional parameter (publication) of an institutional framework (university) that takes a stance on what constitutes art today.
