Thirteen recognized Greek historians record here their studies, which focus on Greek society during the period of Ottoman rule.
The examination of the economy, both as a fiscal mechanism and as the movement and actions of merchants, is one of their objectives, as well as the analysis of self-determinations, hetero-determinations, and identities, both abroad and within the country itself.
Family structures and the configuration of social layers are a third important objective, which inevitably leads to the study of various - and often complex - social, ideological, and political conflicts that Greek society experienced during the Ottoman period (14th - first quarter of the 20th century), and especially during the War of Independence (1821-1828), which ended with the creation of the modern Greek state (1830).
