Description

The 1960s represent the "short" decade of the post-war era - a poignant reminder of the relativity of historical time, highlighting not only the violent interruption of social, political, and cultural developments by the dictatorial imposition of 1967 but also the extent and density of these very developments across many fields:

in the increase of the urban population with the consequent changes in the productive structure and social perceptions; in the acceleration and intensification of political developments both at the level of official institutions (state, public administration) and mass politics (parties, collective subjects, civil society); in the intensification of social fermentations and conflicts within an intense cultural movement and extensive value redefinitions.

The texts in this volume are based on presentations made at the 7th Congress of the Hellenic Political Science Association (Panteion University, December 2005).
