The director who, alongside Murnau, represented the most powerful and authentic cinematic version of German "demonic" cinema (and not just of expressionism) managed - now in Hollywood - to impose his personal cinematic stamp on the genres he borrowed, remaining the absolute, Renaissance creator of the 7th art.

From whatever perspective it is examined, whether aesthetic or social, from the standpoint of spectacle or that of gloom and guilt, Lang seems inexhaustibly to be the absolute master of an unparalleled balance between the severity of writing and its enjoyment.
