Single-parent families, blended families, same-sex families, children of unknown fathers, and now also of undetermined mothers, medically assisted reproduction, surrogacy, cohabitation agreements, adoption; alongside these, the digital family, television and the internet as the third parent, the family and new symptoms.
New ways of recording the institution of family in the collective, under the regime of globalization and the claims of minorities, rewrite the Freudian family novel no longer from the perspective of the 'royal child' but based on the desire-enigma of the parents themselves.
These new family novels, both from the perspective of psychoanalysis and broader social sciences, are the subject of this work.
