Description

Back in the distant year 1456, Halley's Comet tears through the skies of Europe and the people are thrown into panic. The Church is alarmed and the Inquisitor turns to old manuscripts, seeking an opportunity to cash in on fear.

The Executioner, a taciturn hangman with knowledge of torture, cynical humor, and an instinctive contempt for authority, is ordered to head up into the mountains to find a prophet who speaks in riddles and prophecies, to discover whether the end times have truly come.

Mad prophets, fanatical preachers, terrified villagers, and well-meaning witches get tangled up in a medieval tale about the end of the world that suspiciously resembles today.

Arkás at his best gives us yet another delightful adventure of the Inquisitor.

Review this product
  • Paper quality

  • Was it easy to read?
  • I would read a book by the same author
  • I would recommend it for reading
  • Was it interesting enough?
  • I liked the writing style
  • Someone is making a huge effort to keep the ratings of this series at high levels... repeated, identical reviews from different people (or the same ones?), about the paper quality, the quality of the humor, etc. etc.
Should I be concerned about what I am about to read??? (I have bought and am waiting for the books)

Edit 6/9/25: I have read all the books in the series. Disappointing writing, jokes below average, pointless rambling, as if they were written by someone else and not by Arkas. No relation to his old series. And I have read them all. I would not recommend buying this particular series.

  • Murderous humor, perfect design, and an Arkas from the good old days, tough, hilarious, sarcastic to the bone. Perfect!

  • After years, the good with spicy black humor Arkas returns. No relation to the last mediocre albums. Reminiscent of the prisoner era.
