Description

Description

There were primarily two reasons that led to the design and realization of the following volumes: on one hand, the realization that in recent years, Greek folklore has made significant progress, not only because it is taught in a large number of departments and schools of Greek higher education institutions, but mainly because it has been thematically, theoretically, and methodologically renewed; on the other hand, the absence from the Greek folklore bibliography of a collective theoretical work-manual for the introduction to the study of folklore science in Greece, following the example of similar scientific and publishing efforts abroad, such as those curated by the leading American folklorist of our time, Professor Alan Dundes.

In this context, our initial thought was to move away from the practice of a theoretical, historical, and methodological introductory manual, bearing the signature of only one individual, and to distribute the content of the two volumes in such a way as to reflect both the dynamic nature of Greek folklore and to ensure the necessary polyphony in scientific approaches.
