This book features selected poems that were either taught during school years or studied in various anthologies. With love and respect, regardless of the political beliefs of their creators, they have been translated into Greek. Despite the rich language, in many places it struggles to faithfully convey the meaning of the foreign language and to preserve rhyme.

Poets from the Middle Ages to modern times have been included, many of whom write in challenging poetic forms such as ballads or sonnets. Among them are well-known as well as lesser-known poets, whose work has almost been forgotten. Also included are women poets, who may be unfamiliar to many, but whose writings carry significant messages to readers.

Let us keep company with French writers and writers with their beautiful poetry, which has been attempted to be rendered as faithfully as possible. Those fluent in French, please forgive the slight paraphrasing necessary to convey the meaning and to maintain the rhyme and musicality of the verse.
