An artistic presence that is straightforward and discreet, dominating the visual arts scene of the country with its own inherent personal style, is the painter Sotiris Sorogas. A painter rooted in our most solid and timeless tradition, he has added his own interpretation of Greek light for decades.
A unique composition of whiteness and the decay of things, while the final visual outcome glorifies the durability as even more resilient, thanks to the way decay is captured.
For this very painter who sanctifies the most humble forms of life, a myriad of individuals from the world of letters, theorists of visual creation, poets, and writers have expressed their thoughts over the span of thirty-five years and more.
The writings of these creators, whether referring to individual exhibitions or evaluating his work to date, are gathered in the volume 'Sotiris Sorogas - Approaches to his Paintings', which reflects not only the artistic stature of an important creator but also simultaneously expresses the anxieties of a pivotal era for the preservation of the ethical values of painting.
